Suspect Caught During Burglary

On January 19, 2009 at approximately 6:40PM, D-Shift Officers responded to 1005 Harris St Apt. 17 in reference to a report of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, Officers found the suspect, later identified as Christopher O’Neal Jones, coming from the back of the residence. Jones was ordered to stop, but ran from the residence. Officers gave chase and Jones was taken into custody a short time later with the assistance of police K-9.

Approximately $2,300 worth of property was recovered on the back porch of the residence which had been removed from the residence by Jones.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Jones had also attempted to break into 1304 Stevens St, but was scared away by the returning residents.

Jones was charged with Second Degree Burglary, Attempted Second Degree Burglary, Felony Larceny, Possession of Stolen Goods and Resist, Delay & Obstruct. He was placed in Wayne County Jail under a $25,000.00 secure bond.
