PRESS RELEASE

On 09/07/2008, at approximately 1706hrs, C-Shift Patrol Officers responded to the 1700 block of E. Maple Street in reference to shots being fired. Upon their arrival, Officers located Craig Doubt III behind 1722 E. Maple Street. Mr. Doubt was lying on the ground and appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Subsequently, Mr. Doubt was transported by EMS to Wayne Memorial Hospital. Later, Mr. Doubt was air-lifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital for further treatment. As a result of the gunshot wound, on 09/08/2008, at approximately 0700hrs, Mr. Doubt was pronounced deceased by hospital officials at Pitt Memorial Hospital. An investigation into this matter ensued and subsequently sufficient facts were established to identify the suspect. As a result of the investigation, a warrant for Murder has been secured for the suspect, Monterio Devon Newsome of Goldsboro, NC. At this time, Mr. Newsome has not been apprehended and is still at large.
